Great-horned Owl Art Print

from $24.00

The Great Horned Owl (Bubo virginianus) is one of North America’s most recognizable owls, with prominent feathered ear tufts, piercing yellow eyes, and powerful talons. Its mottled brown and gray plumage provides excellent camouflage among tree branches, and its deep, resonant hoots can be heard echoing through forests after dark.

Diet: A wide variety of prey, including rabbits, squirrels, mice, birds, reptiles, and other small animals. It can even hunt other raptors.

Habitat: Forests, deserts, grasslands, wetlands, and urban parks. Great Horned Owls are highly adaptable and occupy a wide range of environments.

Range: Across most of North America, from the Arctic regions of Canada south through Central America and into parts of South America.

Great Horned Owls are powerful, adaptable hunters that can take prey larger than themselves. They also begin nesting remarkably early in the year, sometimes laying eggs in the middle of winter when snow still covers the ground. Their combination of strength, adaptability, and haunting calls makes them one of the most successful owl species in the Americas.
