The Red-spotted Purple (Limenitis arthemis astyanax) is a favorite butterfly of mine, with dark, velvety wings that shimmer with iridescent blue. Small reddish-orange spots line the undersides of its wings, giving the butterfly its common name.
Habitat: Found in deciduous forests, woodland edges, stream corridors, and shaded areas where host plants grow.
Range: Found across much of the eastern and central United States, from southern Canada south to Florida and west into parts of the Great Plains and Texas.
Diet: Caterpillars feed on the leaves of trees and shrubs, including wild cherry, willow, poplar, and aspen. Adults feed on tree sap, rotting fruit, animal dung, and occasionally flower nectar.
Interesting Fact: The Red-spotted Purple mimics the Pipevine Swallowtail, a butterfly that contains toxic compounds from its caterpillar food plant. This resemblance helps discourage predators from eating it.
Add a touch of natural beauty to your laptop, water bottle, phone case, car, or any other surface with this waterproof sticker. Featuring a life-size Red-spotted Purple Butterfly on a white background, this irregularly-shaped, matte laminated sticker is suited for both indoor and outdoor use.
Shipping Details: Your sticker will be carefully packaged and shipped to you in an envelope via First Class USPS mail.
Note: This listing is for one waterproof sticker.
